We are delighted to announce that Sona has been victorious in a long-standing trademark dispute with US business owned giants KKR and Carlyle, over the trademark name of MultiPlus.
Sona registered MultiPlus as a trademark back in 1995. MultiPlus is the brand name of Sona’s Multivitamin range, available for children and adults and also available in Iron Free.
Then in 2015, Solgar, which is a subsidiary of the Nature’s Bounty owned by KKR based in New York, applied to trademark MultiPlus in Europe which Sona immediately opposed. This objection was initially rejected in 2017. However, following a subsequent appeal by Sona, the decision was overturned by the European Court of Justice, quoting that the initial ruling was in error. Sona have been awarded costs against KKR.
